How to turn off automatic PS5 trophy videos and screenshots

Every time you hear that satisfying ding of a new trophy, your PS5 is working behind the scenes to record a video and snap a screenshot of the moment. While it’s a cool feature for a rare Platinum, it’s a massive waste of storage space for every minor Bronze trophy. If you’re tired of your Media Gallery being cluttered with clips you never watch, I’ll show you how to shut them off in under a minute.

Disable automatic trophy videos & screenshots

Trophy videos are the biggest storage hogs. A few dozen 4K clips can easily eat up several gigabytes of your precious SSD space. While screenshots take up less space than videos, they still clutter your Media Gallery and make it harder to find the screenshots you actually took. Here's how to stop automatic trophy videos and screenshots on your PS5:

  1. Open Settings from the PS5 home screen.
  2. Scroll down and open Captures and Broadcasts.
  3. Select Captures from the left-hand menu.
  4. Open Trophies.
  5. Set Save Trophy Screenshots to None.
  6. Set Save Trophy Videos to None.

💡 Tip: If you still want to save your big wins, change the settings for saving trophy screenshots and videos to Platinum. That way, the console stays quiet for the easy stuff but records your biggest achievements.

Bonus: How to reclaim your space right now

Turning off the setting stops future recordings, but it won't delete the ones already sitting on your drive. To get your storage back immediately:

  1. Go to your Media Gallery.
  2. Select the Trophies tab at the top.
  3. Click the "Select Multiple" icon (the two squares with a checkmark) on the left.
  4. Select Select All.
  5. Hit Delete.
