How to disable WhatsApp read receipts (blue check marks)
This tutorial will show you step by step how to disable read receipts (blue check marks) on WhatsApp on an Android phone.
When you turn off read receipts (double blue ticks), your contacts will not know when you've read their messages.
This tutorial works for all Android phones, such as Samsung Galaxy, Sony Xperia, Google Pixel, Lenovo, Huawei, One Plus, Motorola, Nokia, ASUS, LG, and all other Android phones.
WhatsApp read receipts
WhatsApp lets you know when your message is sent, received, and read.
This will be indicated with check marks.
What the check marks mean:
- One check mark mean that the message is sent.
- Two check marks mean that the message is received.
- Two blue check marks means that the message is read.
If you don't want your contacts to know when you've read their messages, then you can easily disable read receipts (also known as “read status” or “read notifications”).
If you deactivate read receipts, you also cannot see the read status from your contacts.
Note: You cannot turn off the read notifications for voice messages and group chats (groups).
