How to disable Google Assistant on a Samsung phone

Learn how to disable Google Assistant on a Samsung phone. And also how to remove it from the home button.

Google Assistant is a virtual assistant developed by Google.

Users can interact with Google Assistant with their voice by saying “Hey Google” and then tell the assistant what they want.

Method 1

1. Open the Google app.

2. Tap on the profile icon in the upper right corner of the Google app. Or, if you're using an older version of the app, tap on More located in the bottom right corner of the app.

3. Tap on Settings.

4. Tap on Google Assistant.

5. Scroll down to General and tap on it.

6. Tap on the toggle button next to Google Assistant to disable it.

A confirmation window will appear.

7. Tap on TURN OFF.

Google Assistant is now disabled.

Method 2

1. Open your phone's settings.

2. Tap on Google (Google settings).

3. Tap on Account services or Settings for Google apps.

4. Tap on Search, Assistant & Voice.

5. Tap on Google Assistant.

6. Scroll down to General and tap on it.

7. Tap on the toggle button next to Google Assistant to disable it.

A confirmation window will appear.

8. Tap on TURN OFF.

Google Assistant is now disabled.

Remove Google Assistant from the home button

Method 1

1. Open your phone's settings.

2. Open Apps.

3. Tap on the 3-dots menu icon located at the top right and then tap on Default apps.

4. Tap on Device assistance app or Assist app.

5. Tap on Device assistance app.

6. Select None or select another option.

Google Assistant is now removed from your phone's home button.

Method 2

1. Open your phone's settings.

2. Open Apps.

3. Tap on Choose default apps located at the top.

4. Tap on Digital assistant app.

5. Tap on Device assistance app.

6. Select None or select another option.

Google Assistant is now removed from your phone's home button.
