How to fix update problems in Windows 10 (step by step)
This tutorial will show you step by step how to fix update problems in Windows 10.
Common Windows update errors are: 0x0xc1900223223, 0x80240034, 0x8007000E, 0x80242006, 0x80244018, 0x80D02002, 0x80246017, 0x80240438, 0x80070070, 0x8007000D, 0x80246008, 0x80096004, and 0x80070020.
1. Windows 10 Update Troubleshooter
1. Open settings.
2. Click on Update & Security.
3. Click on Troubleshoot located in the left menu.
4. Click on Windows Update.
5. Click on the Run the troubleshooter button.
6. When the 'User Account Control' window appears, you click on the Yes button. Depending on your Windows 10 account settings, you may need to enter a password and then click on the Yes button.
The troubleshooter will now search for update problems.
7. If the troubleshooter finds a problem, you click on Apply this fix.
The troubleshooter will now try to resolve your problem.
8. When the troubleshooter is finished, you click on the Close button to close it.
9. Restart your PC.
10. Open settings.
11. Click on Update & Security.
12. Click on the Check for updates button.
2. Windows System File Checker
1. Open Windows Command Prompt as administrator.
Three Ways to open Windows Command Prompt as administrator:
- Press the Windows + X keyboard keys at the same time and then click on Command Prompt (Admin).
- Right-click on the start menu button and then click on Command Prompt (Admin).
- Enter cmd in the Windows search bar or Cortana, then right-click on Command Prompt and choose Run as administrator.
2. When the 'User Account Control' window appears, you click on the Yes button. Depending on your Windows 10 account settings, you may need to enter a password and then click on the Yes button.
The Command Prompt window will appear.
3. Type the following command:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
4. Press the Enter key on your keyboard.
Wait until the command is finished.
This may take a while.
It may look like the tool is stuck at 99.9%, but don't worry. Just wait till it's complete.
5. When the command is complete, you type the following command:
sfc /scannow
6. Press the Enter key on your keyboard.
The System File Checker tool will scan all protected system files, and replace corrupted files with a cached copy.
This process may take a while.
7. Wait until the command is finished and then you can close the Command Prompt window.

8. Restart your PC.
9. Open settings.
10. Click on Update & Security.
