Windows 10 is not saving captured screenshots in the Pictures folder

This tutorial will show you step by step what to do when Windows 10 is not saving captured screenshots in the Pictures folder.

Screenshots are not being saved in Pictures folder in Windows 10 (solution)

1. Right-click on the start menu button > Run.

Open the Run window in Windows 10

A Run window will appear.

2. Type regedit.

3. Click on OK or press [Enter].

Open the Registry Editor in Windows 10

4. When the “User Account Control” window appears, you click Yes. If you're not using an administrator account (which you shouldn't use for daily use anyway), you first need to enter the administrator password and then click on Yes.

A “Registry Editor” window will appear.

5. First, we'll make a backup of the registry. You can restore this backup in case something goes wrong. To do this, click on File located in the top left corner.

6. Click on Export.

Windows Registry Editor Export option

7. Select a location on your computer where you want to save the backup file.

8. At File name, you enter a name for the backup file.

9. Click on the Save button.

Save Windows Registry backup file

10. In Registry Editor, you go to the following location:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders
