Want to block adult websites in Windows 8 and 8.1?

Then follow the instructions on this page.

But first:

You can block adult websites in Windows 8 and 8.1 by using a different account for your child. When your kid signs into his or her's account, you will get reports about your child's computer activities, and you can use Family Safety to set additional limits such as blocking adult websites.

And now:

Turn on Family Safety

1 Right-click on the Windows start menu and choose "Control Panel".

2 Click on "Network and Internet".

3 Click on "Internet Options".

4 Click at the top on "Content".

5 Click on "Family Safety".

6 Click on your kid's user account or another user account for which you want adult sites to be blocked.

If you don't have an account for your kid yet, then create one:

Create an account for your child without an email address:

  1. Click on "Accounts".
  2. Click on "Add an account".
  3. Click at the bottom on "Add a child's account".
  4. Click at the bottom on "Add a child's account without email".
  5. Enter a username and password.
  6. Click on "Next".
  7. Click on "Finish".

Family Safety monitoring will be turned on for this account. You can always change what your kid sees in the Windows store and manage other settings on the Family Safety website.

7 Select "On, enforce current settings" under "Family Safety" if not already selected.

8 Select "On, collect information about PC usage" under "Activity Reporting" if not already selected.

9 Click on "Web filtering".

10 Select "... can only use the websites i allow".

11 Click on "Set web filtering level".

12 Select "Designed for children". Your settings are saved now and you may close the windows.

Your kid can now only view websites that you added on the Allow list and websites designed for children and adult site are blocked.

Allow or Block Websites

1 Right-click on the Windows start menu and choose "Control Panel".

2 Click on "Network and Internet".

3 Click on "Internet Options".

4 Click at the top on "Content".

5 Click on "Family Safety".

6 Click on your child's user account.

7 Click on "Set web filtering level".

8 Click at the left sidebar on "Allow or Block Websites".

9 Enter a website and click on "Allow" or "Block". You must enter the website's domain name such as facebook.com, youtube.com or twitter.com.

View Activity Reports

1 Right-click on the Windows start menu and choose "Control Panel".

4 Click at the top on "Content".

5 Click on "Family Safety".

6 Click on your child's user account.

7 Click under your child's account on "View activity reports" to view your kid's activity on your computer.
